Episode 73 – Ruf Dug

We have a very special episode this week from a longtime Dark Energy friend, Ruf Dug. Ruf Dug (aka SomeFreak aka Si) is from Manchester, but spent many years in Sydney and was very active in the underground techno scene, throwing regular Hi Jinx parties at the Sly Fox in Enmore as well as being involved in some secret underground squat parties.

A few years back Ruf got chosen for the Red Bull Music Academy and from there it energised him even further (if you have met Si before, you know he’s already a bundle of energy ;) into the realm of production.

Ruf runs and has released on his own Ruf Kutz imprint, he’s almost 5 releases in and each is is some deep goodness!

Speaking of which, Ruf Dug’s mix for us this week is straight up, 100% Beat Down madness. Very similar to what you would find on his label, this stuff just makes you want to work a hot sweat on the dancefloor.

Keeping it classic, he threw together this beat doen on 2 x SL1210′s and one amazing DJR400 mixer!

Episode 66 – DJ Dan FOJ

We got very lucky with this weeks episode!

Firstly, this is Dan FOJ’s first appearance on Dark Energy and secondly, this mix was taken from his opening set at the recent Deep Space party in Sydney on the 25th Feb.

Dan had a last minute scramble to find his records and a turntable (all packed away for a few years apparently) and get his set together and what a mix it was! He pulled out classic after classic from various genres to realy set the mood and the pace for the Deep Space party.

We are looking forward to getting regular mixes from Dan in the future.
